Maya class teaching done... for now
So I finished up teaching the Intro to Maya class at Nickelodeon. Apparently the class was so well liked that they now want me to teach two classes in the Fall. I'm going to split it up in to Introduction to Modeling, covering texturing and lighting, etc., and Introduction to Animation and Character Setup. That seems to be a good way to get people interested in the various areas. I really like teaching, and it's a nice break from the rest of my CG world. We didn't have a single person drop the class, which is unheard of.
One of the star class participants was Frank Rocco (here's his blog!). Frank had done a little bit of 3D work before, but really ran with whatever we were doing in the class. He's now gotten into Z-Brush quite a bit and is jumping right in. He also did this great drawing of me teaching the class:
