Interviewing at Disney
No, not going for a job, hiring for some. A couple of weeks back I had the pleasure of going to Disney Feature Animation and I got to interview 50 (yes, that's 50) people that are being laid off. With "Meet the Robinsons" wrapping and some other projects going through some changes, they're laying off about 120 people. Our Nickelodeon Recruiter Alison Mann had called them asking if they knew of any strong candidates, and Disney set up this event for us to meet with their people.
Every one was so talented and nice, I really wish I could hire them all. So many skilled people makes me want to just get some funding and start a new studio right away! There were some good possible immediate matches, and I now have a long list for when we need more good people in the future. 50 people is a lot to interview in 4 hours, but it was a great time. Disney gets bad-mouthed a lot when they have layoffs like lately, so I thought it's important that people hear about the good they do for their employees as well. Thanks to Disney for setting this up!
Oh, and I got to see tons of the "Robinsons", which looks great, and lots of work from future releases, which I can't talk about, but there's some really great stuff. Knowing a lot about what's going on there, there will be some good surprises coming from Disney.
