I'm back!

It's been quite some time since last writing. Whaddya want for nothing? Hey, it says "updated infrequently" right there on the title above! Anyway, I last wrote 10 days after our son Baker was born. In that time, he's grown to over 20 pounds and 29 inches long. That's genes at work! Being a parent is by far the coolest thing I've ever experienced.

A lot of cool stuff has been going on at work and beyond. May was busy. Besides working on finishing the first episodes of "Tak", and working on another project, I had a lot of off-site business. Some highlights were:

CalARTS Portfolio Review - Alison Mann, our recruiter, Ant Ward, one of my CG artists and a CalARTS alumni, and I went to the review where there was some excellent work to see. Some darned fine artists and drawings. We got lots of names for the future...

Two Trips to PDI/DreamWorks - I'm working with them on a new project, and it was cool to see around the PDI campus, and some shots from Madagascar 2. And they have a great cafeteria, with what is seriously the best egg salad I've ever tasted.

A trip to the Academy of Art College Spring Show - I flew up for a portfolio review and some interviews. The Spring show had some great work, and Nickelodeon and every other major studio out there was recruiting. Got to meet some swell folks from DreamWorks on the plane and shuttles to and from the event, and we got to all sprint together to the plane when our shuttle arrived late at the airport.

Because I was flying up to the Bay Area every week in May, I didn't make it up for the Bay to Breakers, missing it for the first time in three years. I'll train extra hard for next year! Yeah right...

Finally, I just got back from a vacation up in Fort Bragg/Mendocino. It was great to get away from the busy world of production for a bit, and hang out with my family and the baby. Time seemed to fly by as quickly on vacation as at work, though, and now I'm back into the thick of it...
