Getting the job as Art Director for Marvel Heroes was an adventure itself. There were the normal rounds of interviews and portfolio and reel reviews. But there were a couple of interesting additions to the process: An art critiquing session role playing reviewing the work of a junior artist, and the pitch for where I’d take the game. With a licensed IP as big as Marvel, where these characters have existed for decades, the team wanted to see what direction I’d be inclined to take the project. Below you’ll find the pitch deck I presented. It’s meant to be talked over, so some pages might not make as much sense without my presentation, but you can see the overall direction I had in mind.
